Copyright and ownership of intellectual property

Manuscripts written by the client (authors) but edited by our company
All rights to the manuscript are retained by the authors. When submitted to a journal, the authors are obliged to acknowledge the contribution of Estill Epidemiology Consulting OÜ in the appropriate section.

Technical reports, workshop presentations and other material created by our company as a part of commissioned work
The client has all rights to the work including the unlimited right to distribute and publish it, given that Estill Epidemiology Consulting OÜ’s role is acknowledged.

Software developed by our company as a part of commissioned work
For software developed based on existing open source code, the licence conditions of the original code will apply. As strong supporteers of open sicence, we recommend the client to share the source code as part of any release of the commissioned work.
The source code for software developed “from scratch” by our company will be proprerty of the client, but our company holds the right to retain a copy (excluding data and other confidential material) and use it as a basis for future projects.

All material related to any project will be treated with strict confidentiality.

Contract

After receiving a request from a client, we will send an offer with a tentative schedule, estimate of work amount, and a fixed fee that covers all expenses, services and deliverables as mentioned in the offer.

Upon signing the contract, the client will also agree to comply with the time schedule and deliver all material as agreed by the respective deadlines. In case of failure by the client to follow the agreed schedule, our company will not bear any liability for delays in the final deliverables.

The fee will be payable, unless otherwise agreed, in two parts: 50% at the time of contract signing, and 50% when the final deliverables are submitted to the client.
